
The Evolution of Cervical Cancer Screening
The eJournal is an online pathology journal club that reviews current articles from a peer-reviewed cytopathology Journal.
Participants will be able to review the journal article, commentary and webinar from the contributing author. This is a great self-assessment, teaching and continuing education tool.
Target Audience
This educational activity is designed for pathologists, cytopathologists, cytotechnologists, students and other members of the cytopathology community.
Learning Objectives
- To discuss of the role of cervical cytology and primary HPV testing in the progressive development of cervical cancer screening.
- To appreciate the impact of HPV co-testing and primary testing on the evolution of clinical cervical cancer screening algorithms.
- To become familiar with the clinical utility of different cervical cancer screening modalities across institutional settings.
- To understand the current state of cervical cancer screening recommendations, including the inclusion of primary HPV screening.
- To review the risk-based approach to cervical cancer screening intervals and clinical follow up.
